Eleventh Hour Sewing

Kids Clothes, Shorts

Ok, so I’ve got one more entry into the Willow & Co sewing contest. So many great prizes, I just had to try and get this one finished. I’ve been sewing into the wee hours to get it finished, my first Fawn Lily and some sweet Clovers to match.

I added a layer of lace, which made the construction of the fawn lily a little more difficult, but got there in the end ūüôā The shorts are made from cotton sateen, which was lovely to work with.

I was hoping to photograph the girls together in their outfits, but ran out of time. So I will try get them together another day.

Thanks for stopping by. Check out my other entries here and here. And¬†there’s plenty more inspiration here.

Seriously get your hands on the Willow and Co patterns, they are all fantastic!!!!

Willow & Co Remixed Clover Skirt

Kids Clothes

So a girl will do just about anything to have a chance at winning some fabric, right? I am in love with Willow & Co patterns, and right now they are having a huge back to school competition. One of  the categories is for best remix. I am the kind of person who likes to follow a pattern to the letter, so to remix a pattern is a big deal for me.

I started small, remixing the clover shorts pattern, into the clover skirt. It was a simple alternation, but I think the pleats and the ruffle waist look super cute in the¬†skirt version ūüėČ

She's a cutie alright

And Ruby seems to like it too. I think I’ll be converting a few more patterns into skirts.

Thanks for stopping by. Make sure you check out the other entries.

I was hoping to have a fawn lily tunic to go with this outfit, but it’s not quite finished But when it is I’ll be sharing some pics of that too ūüėČ Plus stay tuned as I’ll be posting shortly about the Persimmon dress I made for Piper, and let’s just say I’m in love.

Pattern testing the Primary Pinafore by Ellie Inspired

Dress, Kids Clothes, Pattern Testing

I was asked to test a few of the new “back to school’ collection for Ellie Inspired. First up was the Primary Pinafore and Blouse pattern. I love this pattern, and so does Piper. It is designed to be suitable for a school. Most schools in Australia have a compulsory school uniform, so I just made this to be worn anywhere, and the polkadot blouse goes with anything.

my sunshine

I absolutely adore the blouse with the sweet peter pan collar.

Polkadots and sparkly buttons

I also added an exposed zipper to make it a bit less like a school uniform and modernise it a little. I love it! It was much shorter than the suggested zipper length (as this was the largest I could find) but had no trouble with getting the pinafore on and off.

Exposed Zipper

And here’s a few more pics. To grab this pattern and many other great “Back to school” patterns head to Ellie Inspired.

Simply Elegant

Dress, Kids Clothes

Today I am part of the Bebelambs Mummy and Me Blog Tour, showcasing the Berkley dress and Labri Maxi Dress patterns.

I am a blessed mumma

These patterns are suitable for beginners, and I wanted show how simple can be stunning, and created an elegant outfit for a special occasion.

love my girl

The Berkley dress is for women of all shapes and sizes, and has loads of options. I made a few simple alterations to make it my own.

To make this style of halter neck I simply added about an inch to the top of the bodice and eliminated the top dart. The skirt has some additional width as I was sewing with slippery rayon and wanted to avoid cutting so just used the width of the fabric. I opted for the shirred back, but in hindsight perhaps should have gone with the elastic method, as the weight of the skirt pulled the back down. I also added a very slight high-lo hem.

awkward poses

this is me ;)

For Piper’s dress I lowered the height of the bodice a little and made the straps narrower than the pattern suggested and gathered them in as I still found them to be a little wide for my liking.

I absolutely love the back of this dress, that bow, those shoulders, divine!

The beautiful floral crown and flowers are from oh fleur, but unfortunately due to bad weather by the time I got to taking the photos they had lost a bit of their lustre.

Pattern testing the Summer Soiree Dress

Dress, Kids Clothes, Pattern Testing

I was given the opportunity to test the Summer Soiree Dress Pattern by Lil Luxe Collections. This is Jessica’s debut pattern and it’s just beautiful.

Baby girl just turned 3!!

One of my favourite features is the gorgeous deep v at the back, it looks so sweet and slips straight over, so you don’t need buttons or zippers (yay!).

I was hoarding this gorgeous fabric, which happens to be called Soiree and I new it would be perfectly sweet on Ruby.

Looks at those scrumptious curls

But when you have 2 girls, you can’t just make one dress.

and look at these scrumptious girls

So I made another for Piper and tried to make them a little bit different.

The pattern has beautiful panel detailing, and¬†I’m a sucker for seersucker so I thought I’d highlight the panels with the stripes.

My beautiful big girl          What can I say I'm a sucker for seersucker

These two have my heart

¬†To celebrate it’s release Jessica is offering a 20% discount til June 2nd. You can find the pattern on etsy. Just use the code “DebutDress” for your discount.

Pattern Testing the Elm Poncho for Willow & Co Patterns

Kids Clothes, Pattern Testing

Ok, so this is super exciting… my first pattern test!

If you haven’t heard of Willow & Co Patterns than you seriously have to go check them out. ¬†A whole bunch of amazingly creative people working together to create a fabulous collection of patterns.

So, I got to test the Elm Poncho which was designed by Celina at Petit a Petit and Family. It’s a super cute poncho, with lots of options. Including welt pockets, visor or chipmunk ears (cute). I was asked to make the visor option with patch pockets, and added some mini pom-pom trim for some extra cuteness.

We had about 3 drops of rain, but Piper was super keen to test it out.

I think she likes it!
