Today I am part of the Bebelambs Mummy and Me Blog Tour, showcasing the Berkley dress and Labri Maxi Dress patterns.
These patterns are suitable for beginners, and I wanted show how simple can be stunning, and created an elegant outfit for a special occasion.
The Berkley dress is for women of all shapes and sizes, and has loads of options. I made a few simple alterations to make it my own.
To make this style of halter neck I simply added about an inch to the top of the bodice and eliminated the top dart. The skirt has some additional width as I was sewing with slippery rayon and wanted to avoid cutting so just used the width of the fabric. I opted for the shirred back, but in hindsight perhaps should have gone with the elastic method, as the weight of the skirt pulled the back down. I also added a very slight high-lo hem.
For Piper’s dress I lowered the height of the bodice a little and made the straps narrower than the pattern suggested and gathered them in as I still found them to be a little wide for my liking.
I absolutely love the back of this dress, that bow, those shoulders, divine!
The beautiful floral crown and flowers are from oh fleur, but unfortunately due to bad weather by the time I got to taking the photos they had lost a bit of their lustre.
